Ellon SAC Diving
Weather permitting,
members of the club try to get in for a dive most weeks of the year. Although Sunday morning is the most regular start
time for diving, Saturday afternoon or evening and weekday evenings also feature
during periods of good summer weather. In order to benefit from the best
visibility most of our dives are carried out on the Moray coast in the Fraserburgh to
Whilst not forgetting wrecks, members are
particularly keen on scenic diving and the spotting the vast amount and variety
of marine life which can be seen around Scottish coasts. Although a number of
members are u/w photographers every effort is made to avoid this being done at
the expense of buddies enjoyment of the dive. Similar
efforts are made to set aside dives for training purposes, in order to ensure
that experienced members do not constantly have their dives restricted by the
need to take trainees.

Do you know what is swimming by, or is hidden by its camouflage right in front of you? Visitors diving with the club are often surprised at the amount and variety of life that they might normally have overlooked. To aid newcomers a number of pages have now been added to the site showing details of fish and invertebrate life which frequent local / Scottish waters. These will be expanded as development time and photos allow. |

The club owns a zodiac inflatable with 40hp engine. Although limited in speed, capacity and operating conditions and distance from base, this allows access to sites that would not otherwise be possible from the shore. There is a small fee for diving from the boat in order to cover costs. Members may on occasion be able to dive from privately owned RIBs. |

When desperation calls, some members have been known to use a local quarry for the sake of getting wet or completion of drills! |
